Has anyone given deep breathing a try?

I don’t mean when you feel anxious but as a daily habit. I am trying to learn more about this as a family friend said it turned his life around when he started doing it daily. He is happier, healthier, and has no anxiety! I am just not sure which breathing exercises to do nor for how long.

One of the easiest ones you can do any time is alternate nostril breathing. You take your thumb and block one nostril and breath in slowly but deeply. Hold for 3 seconds. Then you release the breath back out the same nostril. You then block the other side and do the same. You should do this for no more than 5 times on each side when you first start as you can get lightheaded from it. I find it helps me stay calmer throughout the day when I do it first thing in the morning. I prefer to do it at night though to help me sleep better.

I have heard of this. I am going to give it a try later. I think you are on to something doing it before bed. I remember my doctor telling me to take in deep breaths in bed when I am having trouble sleeping.
